Japanese Nagaland Legislators Union (ENLU), a discussion board of legislators from the state’s japanese districts, has determined to take part within the forthcoming meeting polls in opposition to the backdrop of a ballot boycott name given by the Japanese Nagaland Folks’s Organisation (ENPO).
In August 2022, the influential ENPO handed a decision to abstain from taking part within the 2023 meeting polls except the demand for the formation of a separate state, comprising the six japanese Nagaland districts, is met.
The ENLU in a press launch said, “In an emergency assembly held on January 22 pertaining to the ENPO decision to abstain from 14th Nagaland meeting election, after a radical deliberation the home resolved to take part within the upcoming normal election because the election has been notified by the Election fee of India on 18th of January, 2023.”
At present, the ENLU has 20 legislators, comprising seven tribes, Konyak, Chang, Khiamniungan, Tikhir, Sangtam, Yimkhiung, and Phom.
Konyak Union (KU) in a press assertion mentioned that it had determined to chorus from taking part within the meeting polls.
The ENLU is led by State Well being Minister S Pangnyu Phom as Convenor and CL John, Advisor for Land Assets Division, as its secretary.
